About Dr. Britta

Meet Dr. Britta Cook Bresina – AKA Dr. Reading Mama

Dr. Britta is a former special education teacher and instructional coach, current education researcher, and a mama. She is passionate about supporting reading comprehension in all students by empowering teachers and parents with knowledge of the Science of Reading.

Dr. Britta always envisioned herself becoming a teacher, influenced by her mom’s inspiring career as an educator. Fast forward a few years, Dr. Britta earned her teaching license in elementary education and special education, focusing on learning disabilities. She began her career teaching jr. high special education. While Dr. Britta is proud of the successes she had as a teacher, fostering meaningful skill growth in many of her students, there was a small but significant number of students who did not experience meaningful growth in response to her instruction. Dr. Britta remained committed to finding solutions for these students. This prompted Dr. Britta to search for answers to questions about how to better meet the needs of her learners by pursuing a Ph.D. in educational psychology/special education.

Today, she works as a researcher and educational consultant, specializing in reading, using data to inform instruction, intensive intervention, and special education.

Dr. Britta is dedicated to bringing essential research- and evidence-based information to the educators and parents who need it so they can be empowered to best meet the needs of their learners. Join Dr. Britta in her mission to provide every student with the opportunity to thrive by supporting their reading skills growth!
